"DRIVE"  by:  INCUBUS

Sometimes, I feel the fear of uncertainty stinging clear
And I can't help but ask myself how much I'll let the
Fear take the wheel and steer.
It's driven me before, and it seems to
have a vague, haunting mass appeal.
But lately I am beginning to find that
I should be the one behind the wheel.

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there with open arms and open eyes.
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there
So if I decide to waiver my chance to be one of the hive
Will I choose water over wine and hold my own and drive?
It's driven me before and it seems to be the way that everyone else gets around.
But lately I'm beginning to find that
When I drive myself my light is found.

So whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there with open arms and open eyes. Yeah.
Whatever tomorrow brings,
I'll be there
I'll be there

Would you choose water over wine...
Hold the wheel and drive?

So whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there with open arms and open eyes. Yeah.
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there
I'll be there

Show Review: World of Jenks

MTV has been airing episodes of a new show, "World of Jenks."  Following 24 year old Andrew Jenks [who also Executive Produces] as he travels the US with the ambition of finding out how different people of abnormal situations live their lives.  To quote him "his parents never even let him play with water guns growing up."  Needless to say, he had an easy-going, positive childhood.

Upon first hearing of this show I will admit that I was skeptical.  I thought it would be your typical whoa is me, waa waaa story of a privileged young man barely stepping into the shoes of those less than fortunate.  While my initial assumptions were correct, I was surprised to concur that this show actually does have heart.

The premiere episodes brings us to Chad, an autistic young man who came highly recommended to Jenks & co.  He is very particular, and Jenks learns the differences right off the bat.  Andrew was very compassionate and by the end of the episode he had gained Chad's trust, and the two made quite the team.  In the next episode we travel to Georgia where rapper, "Maino" resides.  This episode was quite different than the first.  Quickly in we find Maino did hard time, and has a permanent scar where someone slashed his face with a razor.  At one point he [Maino] chokes Jenks out with his bodyguard telling him, "let him live, let him live!"

The Street Queen is the appropriately titled third episode which follows 22 year old Danielle aka "HeavyD."  She is homeless 'houseless' [as she and her friends prefer] and has been since she was around the age of 12.  Right before becoming homeless, while she was babysitting her younger siblings, she was charged with a felony account of child neglect (DO NOT ask me how that works because I don't know.)  During the episode we see that life on the street is actually better for her than it would have been at home.  At one point Andrew and D sleep outside a church right off of the Tenderloin where he has to piss on the side of it!  Moving along Jenks goes back home with D and she reveals that in one circumstance she held a razor blade to her wrist in a bought of fury and told her parents she was better off dead, and that she wanted to commit suicide.  Much to my surprise her dad suggested that this was the right thing to do!!  To sum up the kind of douche bags we are speaking of, the mom and dad could not even be sober on the afternoon they had to hitch hike to their home.

Wrapping up my review we follow UFC fighter Anthony "Showtime" Pettis.  Once again Jenks thought he was walking into a callous soul with no sensitivity.  Proving the complete opposite [yet again] "Showtime is anything but.  He was gearing up for the fight of us life, right after losing a pivotal match.  The guy was undefeated, hell I'll even go as far to call him a BEAST!  Throughout the episode Anthony shows Jenks his dads grave site which he visits frequently for inspiration.  "Showtime" supports his entire family with his fighting career.  The best news of the episode is in the end when the match concludes with Showtime knocking the shit out of whatever the big "Tough guys" name was.

If I were to grade this show I would give it a solid A-.  For a first season premiere that is a DAMN good grade for me to dole out.  I am eager to see MTV green light a second season, much more importantly the other 4 or 5 episodes we have left in which he follows a cheerleader, and an animal rights activist among many other interesting things.  Kudos Jenks, keep up the good work!!!

SCREAM!!!!!!!

Viewed as one of the more campy yet awesome horror franchises in the last 50 years, the Scream movies really made an impact on cinema, in one way or another.  I regret the fact that I did not see the original in theatres, but soon after it was released VHS we rented it.  Usually talkative and ignorantly noisy, the group of 7-8 of us sat in front of my friends big screen television and didn't move for the entire movie.  We were glued to the T.V and I kid you not over the next few months of that summer we watched it a million times.

Fast after we all got together to buy a dual movie pass.  It was at the Oakmont 8 in Bradenton, a year and a half after we all watched the first one.  Scream 2 was being double released in the big theatre with I Know What You Did Last Summer.  Needless to say we were first in line and last to leave the theatre.  You're damn right, I guessed the killer before the end, YET again.

The same crazy ensued when Scream 3 came out in 2000.  Wes Craven, who directed all 3 promised that the third installment would be the death of the trilogy.  We were devasted.....

FAST FOWARD 9 years... it's January of 2009 and I hear whisperings that the ORIGINAL director, AND producers have met with Courteney Cox and David Arquette.  Before I knew it Neve Campbell was on board for the new movie that would be made ten years after the 3rd!
About 3 weeks ago filming wrapped up for Scream 4.   I know the following:  Hayden Panietere (Heroes), Emma Roberts (Lil Julia), Rory Culkin, Adam Brody, Anthony Anderson, Lake Bell, Anna Paquin OF TRUE BLOOD!!, Shanae Grimes, are all on board to star in this kick ass return of my FAVORITE cult classic horror series!!  In addition to this, the writers and producers have promised to keep the same old fashioned comical horror spin, with a twist of modern technology and sleu of tricks up their sleeve!!

We are hoping for a teaser preview around November, with a real preview following shortly thereafter.  The release date is April 2011.  Along with this great news I can report to any of you that are interested that a Scream 5 and 6 were orignally pitched along with this movie, pending the box office is a smash (the first 3 movies brought in around 3/4 of a BBBillion dollars at the box office.)

What do you all think?  Are you excited for another EPIC Horror Trilogy?

MOVIES: What the hell happened?

If you are a movie buff, take a moment to think about the last decade of movies.  The 2000s... what the hell?  What ever happened to The Top Guns, Air Force Ones, The American Presidents, etc.  I may be a little young to be calling this out but frankly I don't give a damn!  Now we have 2012, a movie I could NOT SIT THROUGH, for a billion reasons.  We have failures like the last 4 or 5 M Night Shamalan movies... what in the hell?!

Not to start this blog off in a negative attitude but for real... think about it.  When is the last time you saw Julia Roberts act in a role that "Julia Roberts" would have ever been in.  It's not just her, it is the vast majority of the BARELY middle aged FORMERLY BRILLIANT Hollywood actor.  Look at Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, and NIC CAGE!!!  From City of Angels, to GHOST RIDER.... thank god for Kick Ass, or I wouldnt ever watch a film of his again.  I don't know why but it just seems like the serious movies have moved backward to an almost fake era... Like Charlie Wilsons War.  I just didn't see ANY passion in that movie.  Maybe it's just me and my few friends....

Movies of the 70s were RAD, movies of the 80's were BADD, and movies of the 90's were AWESOME!!  But the movies of the.... 2000's, just do not compare.  I think we are taking the acting and the directing out of the movies and replacing it with product placement and CGI.  WAY too much CGI at that.  Yes Avatar was awesome, but what ever happened to the actors actually doing ANY of their own work?  The backrounds not being green screen 100%.

In closing I will say any movie Directed by Darren Aronofsky, Guy Ritchie, and Martin Scoresece is excluded, with very few others.  They are in a league of their own.  Like Meryl Streep/Clint Eastwood!! ... They STILL have it.

Does anyone see what I am talking about?

After 2 years...... I'm Baaaa-AAACK!
